I figured I'd watch what they did since I'm not squeamish about my own blood (or so I thought) and I was curious. However the fact that I'd jogged to the surgery just before and my blood was therefore quite active, the squirting that resulted when they stuck the big, fat needle in my arm triggered the same hot / blurry eyed experience that I didn't expect at all.
