More screen-shots of Envy Code R preview #7

Work on my Envy Code R programming font has resumed and I've spent hours playing with the hinting process to ensure it looks good at sizes above and below 10 point:

These look great - even more so when you consider there are no embedded bitmaps and very few delta hints.

There is still a lot of work to do - all the foreign characters, symbols and box-drawing characters (another 600 glyphs) require hinting and I should test it on the Mac, Java and Flash font rendering engines to make sure there are no show-stoppers there.

Preview 7 will consist of of just a plain style regular and bold because I need to get this out - it's been too long since the last release. Preview 8 will add back italics and the Visual Studio italics-as-bold hack shortly afterwards.

Check out Talios's shots using Java/Linux and Eddy Young's shots in NetBeans.

A newer version of Envy Code R is available.

Wow, the smoothing is looking really good! Looking forward to another release of this font - I could not code in anything other! Thanks again :)

It's looking great, Damien. I'm in some kind of coding font turmoil right now, even finding Courier New attractive :-)

I do concur, it is indeed looking pretty smashing.

I'll have to have a play with these later. Cheers.

I think Envy Code R might be a Pragmata killer, if it is not already.

    Hello,

I am glad to see progress. Very nice work. I see that you mention that you have worked a bit on the international characters. Is it possible to have a go on this preview as I am in a constant search of a good programming font with greek support?

    Cheers,

    Nick

The international support is really just accented characters and symbols I am familiar with.

The additional symbols in the Greek codepages/Unicode ranges are new to me and I'm not sure which are the essential elements to preserve when styling them in with the rest of the font.

It's unlikely PR7 will include Greek support but going forward it doesn't look like to many to learn and draw for potential inclusion in PR8.

I am willing to assist in this task if you want.
I am so desperate for a decent programming font with greek characters.
I have already done so for the BPMono font and Anonymous font (although the BPMono creator is greek so it was much easier)

    Cheers,

    Nick

    Hi,

Preview #7 looks nice! I've been using preview #6 as my coding font on Windows for sometime now. Would like to try out #7.

    Cheers,

Looking great, Damien--can't wait to try it out! :)

Hi Damien, I've been using Preview 6 for a while now and I love it.One minor "complaint" was the font's display at 9pt. So, naturally, I was ecstatic when I saw that Preview 7 works well at 9pt (and even 8pt).

I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds, but do you think it's possible to ask for a download link for Preview 7?

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work.

This is great. I agree, really happy to see that it works well at 9pt?

Please Damien, stop teasing us and put up a link already! :p

Thanks for the incredible work (As a font obsessed gal, i mean it)
