Altered Chrome

A 2019 production that that is aggressive, full of tech flair, and available in three weights.

This font works well on title screens, short runs of text, status screens, menus, etc. Longer prose is harder to read. It would look better with either a proportional renderer or one capable of rendering just 6 or 7 pixels wide.

Reynolds

I seem to have this knack for creating a font based on memories and when I compare it to the actual thing it’s quite different. This happened once again with this font which I thought I was drawing in 2018 in the style of some text I’d seen in Firefly and Serenity and so named it Reynolds after Captain Malcolm Reynolds. Searching online shows no such typographical style in Firefly at all!

This is a semi-futuristic font that would look good on the side of a starship though.

Can be seen in Last Train to Tranz-Central and ZHL.

Razor

Inspired by the Psygnosis logo from Amiga games of old as well as some of the title typography from the gorgeous Shadow of the Beast II this font came out surprisingly well given the constraints.

While the font can be too difficult to read for large blocks of text it shines on status and list screens as well as titles and menus.

The alternative ‘Razor Rust’ is actually a much earlier iteration of this font (it went through so many) that actually complements it nicely and has a much rougher feel.

Can be seen in Ludum Dare.

Protractor

I designed this font in 2018 in BASIN as an experiment.

What do you get when you try to make a font with extreme angles in an 8x8? Well, a lot of compromise for sure but that’s always par for the course.

A tight, condensed font that looks pretty cool for titles and very short runs of text.
