Computing 60s

I designed this font back in 2006 in BASIN as a tribute to advertisements for computers in the late 60s and early 70s.

Doubtlessly inspired by the magnetic OCR style fonts, it deviated by replacing the unsightly blobs with bold sections that ran to the nearest edge to give it a smoother feel. The most likely actual typeface used for these ads was probably Countdown

This font works great for titles and small runs of text, and at a stretch, you can use it even for low-density text adventures.

I created this font in 2018 as a bubbly, fun font that somehow reminded me of playing on the beach with friends. A short version was added in 2020 that keeps much of the original feel while dealing with descenders and vertical spacing a bit better.

It is mostly sans-serif with some subtle exceptions and chunky lower terminals and lower arms, giving it a new refreshing feel for an 8x8. A proportional renderer and an extra pixel of vertical whitespace would make it shine.

This font works very well on title screens and could even work in a text adventure with that custom font rendering.

Can be seen in Crap Dice 3, Roque y sus Bloques and Northpole.

A 2018 production that attempts to be a real oblique font (not italicized) straddle the intersection of being easy to read and yet not too playful.

This font works well in all scenarios and would likely shine with proportional rendering.
