I designed this font in 2020 based on a few characters in the logo of the game Valorant.
It doesn’t have real lower-case instead adopting for shorter versions of the upper-case characters but like localhost I think it can work quite well especially for status screen, lists and title pages. If you use it for a text adventure somebody will probably want to give you a stern talking to.
An early 2020 release that has sat languishing for some time before publication. There’s some similarity with Reynolds which has held it back but when you look at screenshots in both there’s quite a subtle difference in the font size and choices in edges and letterforms.
While Reynolds would look nice on the side of a starship this one would look better on a crate or munition in a sci-fi environment. It works quite well on lists and information screens. The bold variant works okay for prose as well but the lighter weights feel too stretched for comfortable reading.
I thought I’d covered most of the over-bold uneven styles I could in previous fonts but this one goes extreme in a top-heavy way and managed to pull off something a little different.
It works well for headlines and title screens although the WMm and w can be very tight and a proportional render can really help there.
In April 2020 an individual behind the Phantasy Star retranslation project named Maxim reached out to see what could be done about the boring font in the Sega Master System game.
The brief was futuristic but old which were quite at odds with each other so I took a few cues from the Phantasy Star title screen and went with an angular theme that still spouted plenty of chunky serif flair.
This font works surprisingly well for blocks of text, titles and headings.
Can be seen in Phantasy Star English Retranslation.
