Another 2018 design this time a more formal hand font that still has some personality yet isn’t as flowing. Perhaps an official log or record of events.
This font works quite well in all scenarios and provides nice spacing despite the bold and italic nature of the font.
I created this font in 2018 after deciding to try once again with hand-written script fonts - one of the styles I’ve struggled with.
The inspiration came from imagining handwriting in a journal that somebody took care of despite never expecting somebody else to read. It is one of my favorite creations.
It works quite well for large runs of text and is quite suitable for text adventure games that tell an informal story.
Created in 2006 for BASIN with the goal of what drawing a font would be like if you hand-drew it and didn’t perform any clean-up.
The name First Pass encompasses this concept and I did give myself a few goes at each character. The result is something chaotic and messy and my idea of doing a “Second Pass” to clean up a few pixels just never happened.
You could use this for text or titles although it’s very messy and probably my least favorite font.
This font was created in 2006 as a resource for the BASIN development tool.
This was my first proper attempt at a script font in 8x8 having tried many times in the 80s before giving up on the idea altogether. The name comes from an episode of “Black Adder” for no reason other than the BASIN was written by Paul Dunn.
Whether you consider this font readable is a matter of personal choice or rather whether you grew up with “cursive”. If you’re aiming at younger players I’d avoid scripts entirely.
